February Goals Report (2019) – Successes & Failures
Early last month I made the commitment to start sharing my goals along with my progression and my journey to achieving my goals in 2019.
I set out 34 major goals to achieve by the end of the year in every area of my life from health to my personal brand and personal freedom goals.
I want to share these goals with you so that you can be inspired to go out and achieve your own goals, no matter how big or small. But, I also want to be more transparent and accountable for what I am doing with my life.
In January I definitely made a lot of progress with my goals and some of the progress that I made actually surprised me. I was able to show myself that, not only were my goals achievable, but I could actually maybe achieve more too.
I also made the decision this month to add another goal, bringing the total to 35 goals. Since I started making some really great progress on Pinterest for marketing this blog, I wanted to make it a key focus area for the rest of the year.
So, without further ado, here is my February Goals Report for 2019.
My Main Health Goal
I will easily build a lean, muscular body of 220lbs with only 10% body fat by December 31st 2019 and maintain this body throughout the course of the year,
Using www.strengthlevel.com as my list of standards, I will easily increase the strength on everyone one of my major lifts to intermediate level, focusing on building strength and good technique twice a week.
- Bench Press
- Starting Point = 47.5kg
- Current = 57.5kg
- Target = 120kg
- Starting Point = 67.5kg
- Current = 80kg
- Target = 160kg
- Starting Point = 75kg
- Current = 90kg
- Target = 180kg
- Overhead Press
- Starting Point = 40kg
- Current = 52.5kg
- Target = 80kg
- Barbell Row
- Starting Point = 65kg
- Current = 65kg
- Target = 105kg
I will also easily complete a regimen of core strength training exercises twice a week.
I have been fairly successful with completing a core strength training program twice a week, though I did miss a couple of sessions.
These sessions typically involve exercises such as pull-ups, kettlebell swings, pushups and much more.
I will easily begin practising yoga and begin a daily yoga practice to build both strength and flexibility.
Not started yet – likely won’t start until after March.
I will easily run three times per week and raise my endurance until I can run 10 kilometres in one hour.
This goal was progressing very well, but massive amounts of snow over the last week disrupted this somewhat. However, I am currently up to 5.5km for each run. I’m going to stick with running around 5km for a little while before taking the next steps to get up to 10km.
I will easily complete the Spartan Race Trifecta by December 31st 2019.
Not booked yet.
I will easily design and follow the ideal diet for my body goals whether it be cutting fat or bulking muscle.
With the exception of pre-planned cheat days, I have eaten healthy almost every day of January. From a starting point of 219.2lbs, I have seen my weight drop to 211.2lbs (8lbs of weight loss).
However, I feel like there was almost certainly some muscle mass which I put on over the last month, so I may have possibly lost more body fat than I initially thought – great success.
If I can get down to around 205lbs by the end of February, I will begin a bulking program. This will start to push me closer to my main goal of 220lbs at 10% body fat.
My Main Mental Health Goal
I will easily improve my life by completely eliminating what remains of my social anxiety and depression, boosting my self-esteem and implementing better self-care routines in my life by December 31st 2019 and maintain this throughout the year.
I will easily complete the following workbooks and will learn the techniques to build a system based on self-care by December 31st 2019:
- The CBT Workbook
- The Self-Esteem Workbook
- The Self-Confidence Workbook
- Mindfulness: A Practical Guide
- The Anxiety and Worry Workbook
- The Compassionate Mind Workbook
I’ve started on The CBT Workbook and I am probably about halfway through. I am about to start Mindfulness: A Practical Guide as of the beginning of February and go through that 8-week program.
I will easily create a habit of daily, weekly and monthly self-care check-ins to ensure that I am staying on the right path.
This is a goal that I have been failing on. I have only really checked in with myself formally a few times in January. Though I have been keeping a journal almost every day, I’ve not been following a specific check-in program.
This is one goal which I will have to work on a little more in February.
I will easily install new good habits into my life as replacements for my previous habits.
It’s too early to comment on whether or not I am installing new habits, but my habit tracker is currently sitting at 87%.
I don’t want to comment on the bad habits which I am addressing right now. I will write a full post in a couple of months about how I have beaten one very popular and pervasive bad habit and how to install new good ones.
However, at the moment, I don’t want to congratulate myself on progress just yet until I have hit the two- or three-month mark.
But, it is going well.
My Main Relationships Goal
I will easily create an open, honest relationship with an amazing girlfriend by December 31st 2019.
At the moment, this goal is not a massive priority for me.
I’m a firm believer in the idea that you have to become what you want to attract in life. So, when I want a girlfriend who has similar ambitions, goals and life plans as me, I need to make sure that I am truly embodying that.
I am spending some time this month on working towards being more authentic and present. In addition to this, I’ll be working on some of my core beliefs about relationships in general and on my thoughts about women, relationships, love and more.
Before I start a new, serious relationship, I want to be sure that I am the best I can possibly be at this point in time. I don’t want to jump head-on into a new relationship just for the sake of being in one.
My Main Family & Friends Goal
I will easily spend quality time with my friends and family every month.
I made some good progress on this goal in January. This month, I was able to spend some time with both my older and younger brother. However, I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with my two sisters.
I worked on a household project with my Dad and also spent some quality time with my Mum. This was both great for emotions and felt generally rewarding too.
I was also able to spend some time with my friends and even get back into contact with friends who were starting to fade out of my life.
My Financial Goal
I will easily save £3000 whilst living a healthier financial life of freedom by December 31st 2019.
Create A Budget
I will easily create a budget to meet my financial needs whilst making room for savings and having fun with my life.
Though I have been pretty good with my money in January, I have not yet created a formal budget. This will be created and filled out this weekend, ready for the next goals update.
I will easily cut my monthly expenditure every month thus freeing more money for other ventures in my life
In January, I spent approximately £492.76 less than in December. Part of this might have been from not spending money on Christmas presents. But, I also cut down on subscriptions, alcohol and spending a lot of money when I go out.
In February, I will be cutting my expenditure even further, making sure that I am only spending money on what matters most to me.
I will easily set aside £300 every month to save every month which should easily take me up to my target amount plus room for emergencies and errors.
I wasn’t able to start this goal due to a few financial constraints in January. However, I have cleared up what remained of my financial difficulties so that I can now prioritise saving and, eventually, investing.
My Brand Goals
I will easily quit my job and become fully self-employed by December 31st 2019.
Value Creation (Content Creation)
I will easily publish 2 blog posts a week, providing maximum value to my readers by December 31st 2019.
I published 7 blog posts, 2 short of what I should have published by my blogging schedule. This will be corrected in February.
I will easily create and distribute twelve free resources on various self-improvement topics by December 31st 2019.
Not started, though I do have the outline for two resources which should be ready to go fairly soon.
If they are not published by end of February, then they will be ready in early March.
I will easily drive 100 page views to my blog per month by March 31st 2019 through my self-marketing efforts.
This goal was smashed with very little effort within the first 25 days of the year. I am currently sitting on just under 300 page views in the last month. Because of this, I have adjusted my goal to reach 1000 page views below.
I will easily drive 1000 page views to my blog per month by March 31st 2019 through my self-marketing efforts.
Finally, I will easily drive 100 page views to my blog per day by December 31st 2019 through my self-marketing efforts.
Social Media Marketing
I will easily attract 5000 Pinterest Followers and have 10,000 monthly engagements by December 31st 2019.
This is a new goal added from February 2019.
I’ve recently started my marketing campaign in earnest on Pinterest. I currently have 940 subscribers and 2.5k monthly engagements.
As I learn more about Pinterest, my growth will increase to even bigger than it is now. Currently, Pinterest is responsible for a huge chunk of my monthly traffic.
When I have mastered this marketing platform, I will use it as a base to launch other social media ventures for marketing my brand.
Develop 2 Digital Products
I will easily create two full-length e-books by September 30th 2019
I have started writing one of the e-books and have a rough plan for the second.
Sell My Products Through My Website
I will easily create a new income stream by December 31st 2019.

I will begin coaching my first client by September 30th 2019.

My Main Learning Goal
I will easily complete 100 high-quality books, learn 12 new skills and complete 12 courses on my personal Key Performance Areas by December 31st 2019.

- Social Media Marketing
- Search Engine Optimization
- Affiliate Marketing

- Life Coaching
I have begun the course on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Search Engine Optimisation. Both should be finished by the end of February.
My Personal Freedom Goals
Learn to swim by June 30th 2019.
Learn to drive by June 30th 2019.
Purchase my first car by September 30th 2019.
Attend a meditation retreat by December 31st 2019.
None of these has been started yet.
In January, I have been good progress on 18 out of my 35 goals. I am by no means absolutely perfect on all of them and I still believe that there will likely be some goals which I will not be able to complete.
However, the joy of success is not in the achievements but in the journey. So, even if I fall short of my goals, I will still have made some progress. I will still have learned important lessons, made great memories and experienced new challenges.
At the end of the day, it’s the journey that matters most – not the results.
